How do i tune to open f? (CFCFAC)?

In the song Bron-y-aur stomp, Jimmy page uses open f tuning. last time i managed to get it but when tuning back down a string snapped. now i have a new string and it was expensive so i am worried about snapping it, and i am not sure if i even had the tuning right before. When you tune it are some of the strings higher than the standard tuning? if so will it snap my strings?
